Daily Skin Care Routine

Everyone has a different skin care routine, and if you are like me it may have taken you years to be able to find a routine that actually works for you! Now, when I say I have tried everything I seriously have tried everything! When I was 14 my Father even ordered me proactive. I have never had awful acne, but I have never had an even complexion and I always get inflamed blemishes monthly. It was always difficult as a teen trying to find a way to mask them! It took until moving out for me to really find a routine that worked for me. Im not sure why that was, but I think being on my own really made me want to focus on myself and my overall body health and skin care.

My Boyfriend definitely had an impact too! He truly made me feel comfortable in my own skin, and helped me see that makeup wasn't necessary for me to feel beautiful and comfortable with myself! Its crazy how someone calling you beautiful in the middle of the night when your hair is a birds nest and your face is completely free of makeup boosts your confidence!

Bellow is my Daily Face Regime and the links to the products that I swear by!

Morning & Night Skin Care Routine:

  • First off, WASH YOUR HANDS - washing your hands before you wash your face prevents the spread of germs, dirt, or bacteria on your hands from getting on your face

  • Next I use Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser - this product is great for getting off my makeup and is incredibly gentle. The foam becomes creamy on your face and doesn't leave my skin irritated

  • After that I also use Garnier SkinActive Clean+ Impurities Eliminating Scrub with Charcoal - using both of these cleansers together has been incredibly effective for me. I love that this product has charcoal in it, it has seriously made an incredible difference with my skin. This face wash is very creamy with a gentle exfoliator in it that leaves my skin incredibly soft and instantly feeling much clearer

  • After washing with both cleansers, I usually use an exfoliating makeup remover wipe to get rid of any excess mascara left on my face from the night before

  • It is important to apply your moisturizer within 5 - 10 minutes of washing your face that way it is absorbed effectively, during the day I like to use Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15

  • At night I do the same routine except I use Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream - it is so light, which I think is really important for a night cream. When I wake up my face doesn't feel sticky and my skin is not increasingly oily

Post Workout Skin Routine:

  • Im going to sound like a broken record but, WASH YOUR HANDS, especially after a sweaty workout and touching all that equipment

  • Washing you face after a workout is super important, while working out your pores can become incredibly clogged and sweating can irritate existing acne

  • If you do not have time to do your entire skin care routine, at least splash cold water on your face and use one of your makeup wipes to clean your face

  • I highly recommend not wearing makeup while working out, not only will you smear your makeup while sweating, wearing the makeup will majorly clog your pores! Try to hold off until after your workout

Additional Skin Care Tips:

  • LEMON WATER - I am OBSESSED with lemon water! I had heard several times how great lemon water is for your skin but never really believed it however, when I started drinking 6 - 8 glasses of it a day I noticed huge differences. My skin 100% got much clearer and brighter and my breakouts were happening less frequently. The additional health benefits of drinking lemon water is also all the reason to incorporate it into your day. Personally, I stopped drinking juice and pop and traded them in for lemon water and have truly noticed huge changes in my life since. I am not as tired, and I have less headache which has always been a huge issue for me

  • Wash your bed sheets often! I wash our bed sheets every week, however currently as it is so hot out and our little place doesn't have AC I am washing them more frequently.

  • Wash your pillows just as often if not more! I always aim to wash our pillow cases weekly, but sometimes I will do it every 3-4 days.

  • Don't wear makeup 24/7!! Wearing makeup everyday does 100% clog your pores, save your full face of makeup for special occasions and going out and try and keep your daily makeup routine light! Do not cake up your face! You're beautiful without it!
